Safe use of Power Tools

Course Objectives:

This course is designed to give you the knowledge needed to identify hazards, assess risks, and prevent worksite injuries associated with common hand and power tools.
By the end of this training session, you should be able to:

• Identify the various symptoms and injuries that can arise from misuse of hand and power tools
• Explain the roles and responsibilities
• Develop understanding on how to improve safety when handling tools of any kind
• Understand safe handling techniques and methods to prevent injuries
• Recognize the best practices for handling a wide array of hand and power tools

Course Syllabus:

• Activities related to power tools
• Hazardous conditions and unsafe acts
• Potential outcomes 
• General Tool Safety rules 
• Construction tool precautions 
• Trimming and felling precautions.
• Personal protective equipment 
• Preventive Maintenance
• Work safely with power tools 

Methodology:

Classroom training with PPT presentation. It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination, where the candidate must answer at least 10 out of 15 questions correctly.  The examination will take a maximum of 30 minutes to complete.

Minimum qualification:

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Be physically and medically fit regarding eyesight, hearing, and reflexes.

Length of Course: This course is designed to be offered during a minimum of 6 hours.

Course Certification:

Successful participants who passed the written and practical test will receive certificates on Safe use of Power Tools

Validity of Certificate: One year
