Manual Handling Training

Course Objectives:

On completion of the course candidates should have awareness of:

• Definition and significance of manual handling
• Law related to manual handling, employees and employers responsibilities
• Anatomy of the spine
• Good posture, body mechanics and causes of back pain
• Manual handling risk assessment
• Principles of safe lifting and reducing the risk
• Unsafe manual handling practices
• Practical instruction for lifting and carrying
• Team handling

Course Syllabus:

• Anatomy of the spine
• Causes of back pain
• Returning back to work
• Manual handling laws and guidance
• Principles of safer manual handling
• Unsafe systems of work
• Manual handling Risk Assessment
• Demonstrations and practice
• Practical Evaluations

Methodology:

Classroom training with PPT presentation. It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination, where the candidate must answer at least 10 out of 15 questions correctly.  The examination will take a maximum of 30 minutes to complete.

Minimum qualification:

Be at least 21 years of age.
Be physically and medically fit regarding eyesight, hearing and reflexes.

Length of Course:

This course is designed to be offered during a minimum of 6 hours.

Course Certification:

Successful participants who passed the written and practical test will receive certificates on Manual Handling Safety course Training

Validity of Certificate: One year.
