Rigging and Slinging Safety

Course Objectives:

To teach the basic skill requirements, practical applications and associated job safety knowledge to personnel involved in slinging, lifting, and signalling operations.
At the end of the course successful students should be able to identify, select, inspect and use slings and lifting tackle both safely and efficiently.

Course Syllabus:

Rigging: process of lifting and moving heavy loads with ropes, chains, and mechanical devices.
Slinging: A loop of material that connects the load to the lifting device. Slings can be made of chain, wire, metal mesh, natural, and synthetic materials. The Process is slinging.
Lifting : The process of lifting, or positioning equipment, components, or materials with a Lifting Device.

Methodology:

Classroom training with PPT presentation. It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination, where the candidate must answer at least 10 out of 15 questions correctly. The examination will take a maximum of 30 minutes to complete.

Minimum qualification:

Be at least 21 years of age.
Be physically and medically fit regarding eyesight, hearing and reflexes.

Length of Course:

This course is designed to be offered during a minimum of 6 hours.

Course Certification:

Successful participants who passed the written and practical test will receive certificates on Rigging and Slinging Training

Validity of Certificate: One year.
